Below you will find the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered here, please click the 'contact us' link on the left hand menu and leave your details and the nature of your request. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hrs.

  • Q.   I used to work the door and i've still got my old badge issued by the local council. Can i work on the door this weekend?
    • No. You must have the new Frontline license issued by the S.I.A. otherwise you face a hefty fine or prison. A conviction for working without a license may also stop you from obtaining an S.I.A. license at a later date.

  • Q.   I am a designated premises supervisor. Can i employ my own door staff?
    • You can only employ your own door staff if you hold a frontline or non-frontline licence issued by the S.I.A.  If you do not have a license, you should employ a S.I.A. compliant company or a company which has obtained Approved Contractor Status with the S.I.A.

  • Q.   I am a personal licence holder. Can i employ my own door staff?
    • You can only employ your own door staff if you hold a frontline or non-frontline licence issued by the S.I.A. If you do not have a license, you should employ a S.I.A. compliant company or a company which has obtained Approved Contractor Status with the S.I.A.

  • Q.   We're holding our sons 18th birthday at the local hall. Do we need S.I.A. Door Supervisors?
    • This will depend on what the licence conditions are at your local hall and you should discuss this with the Designated Premises Supervisor for that premises. If you do need Door Supervisors, they must be S.I.A. Registered.

  • Q.   Do you charge for consultations?
    • NO. We offer free advice via the phone or internet concerning the current regulations. We also offer free risk assessments to premises within our local area.

  • Q. Where are you based?
    • We are based in Folkestone and currently cover the areas of Folkestone, Dover, Ashford and Lydd although we have also had landlords from Canterbury, Maidstone and Thanet express an interest in our services, so we may be expanding again soon!

  • Q. I've passed the qualifications required to be a door supervisor but haven't got my badge yet. Can i work this weekend?
    • No. If you work without a badge issued by the S.I.A. you face being prosecuted under The Private Security Industry Act and, if found guilty, would then be unable to apply for a badge due to your conviction.
